My first experience with crystals was when I was 12 years old and my step-mum took me into a “hippy shop” and bought me a heart-shaped rose quartz crystal, hanging off a black leather choker. It was the 90’s and it was very “in”! It was a love-at-first-sight kinda deal, and from that point forward I continually traveled to the city - to a store called 'Scarab', to expand my ever-growing crystal collection. At the time I didn't understand how crystals worked, but I was young, entering into my teens and I needed something to believe in.

Fast forward 20 or so years and here I was still obsessed, but in-the-closet obsessed. My collection of crystals had sprawled out from my bedside table and into the rest of the house!

I believe a lot of women begin a journey of self-exploration as they enter into different life stages - such as marriage or starting a family, feeling a need to ground or centre themselves. I turned to spirituality to help my self-exploration process, reading books and attending seminars and workshops. I wanted to learn how to manage the busyness of modern family life while still maintaining a sense of myself.

Over the years I've been trained in Vedic meditation, Rieki, Kundalini Yoga and Crystal Healing - and they have essentially come to form what I call my 'Sacred Toolkit' - they are the tools I turn to when I feel off-balance, emotional or lost. They help anchor me. I'm not claiming to have my life together, but life has become more enjoyable and I know how to get back on track when life gets tough.

No one is immune to the ebb and flow of life - there will always be ups and downs - these tools just help smooth that ride out a little.

CRYST was born to introduce my love of crystals to a wider audience - to people who possibly wouldn't feel comfortable walking into a crystal shop and  knowing what to choose. It can be overwhelming with the variety on offer and I wanted to take the guess work out of it.

Since the onset of the pandemic in 2020, I feel like people need something to believe in to help reestablish their faith in life and have a sense of optimism. It's nice to have something in your home that has more meaning than just being aesthetically pleasing.

CRYST is a modern take on introducing crystals into your home or workspace, and I hope you enjoy what CRYST has to offer, as much as I've enjoyed making it.
