How to Cleanse Your Energy (When the Vibes Feel a Bit Off)
You know those days where everything feels a little meh — like your energy’s been weighed down by other people’s moods, too much scrolling, or just life being a bit too...lifey?
In the past when I've felt overwhelmed I would pour myself a glass of wine rather than do something nurturing for myself.
When you are feeling frazzled and the sound of your husband's breathing is irritating you - that’s your cue, my friend - your energetic field — is probably due for a little rinse.
Just like you wash your hair or tidy your home, your energy needs a regular clean, too. And the good news? There are so many beautiful, simple ways to do it.
Here are my favourite ways to clear my energy and feel like me again:
1. Magnesium Flake Bath with Crystals
I run a bath with magnesium flakes and pop in a few crystals — usually something gentle like rose quartz or amethyst. It’s like a full-body exhale. The magnesium helps relax tight muscles, and the crystals help soften tight energy. Bonus points if you light a candle or two and play something calming in the background.
Caution: Don’t throw in anything that ends in “-ite” unless you want a sad, dissolved stone. (Looking at you, selenite.)
2. Smoke Clearing – Sage or Palo Santo
There’s something ancient and powerful about cleansing with smoke. I’ll light some sage or palo santo and let the smoke drift around my body, over my crown, under my feet, and around my heart. I always set the intention to release anything that’s not mine or not serving me.
Tip: Open a window — you want the stagnant energy (and the smoke) to have somewhere to go.
3. Meditation + Visualisation
Even a 5-minute pause with my eyes closed can change everything. I like to visualise a white or golden light pouring in from above, filling every cell of my body, then expanding out into a protective bubble. It’s simple, but so powerful. Sometimes I imagine that bubble brushing off anything heavy and sending it back to the earth.
4. Sound Baths (My Personal Fave)
I’m obviously biased because I run sound meditation events — but truly, sound is one of the most effective ways to clear energy. Whether it's crystal bowls, chimes, or even a simple "om", the vibrations help reset your system and shift stuck energy in the body and aura. There are plenty of great sound bath videos on YouTube.
Sound doesn’t just relax your mind — it re-tunes your whole being.
5. The Mighty Selenite Wand
I love selenite because it’s like the energetic vacuum cleaner of the crystal world — no need to cleanse it, and it clears everything around it. I’ll run a selenite wand slowly down my body, like I’m brushing off invisible lint. Top of the head down to the feet. It’s so subtle, but you really can feel the shift. Set your intention to cleanse your energy - intention is everything.
6. Barefoot Earth Time
Nothing beats nature. If I feel scattered, I get outside. Even five minutes of barefoot time on the grass or sand is enough to bring me back down to earth — literally. The earth’s frequency (yes, it has one!) helps reset our nervous systems and bring balance to our energy field.
In Summary…
Cleansing your energy isn’t about being perfect or high vibe 24/7 — it’s about checking in, noticing when something feels off, and gently supporting yourself back into alignment.
It doesn’t have to be complicated. Trust your intuition. Pick one or two things that resonate. Your energy doesn’t need to be fixed — it just needs a little love and care, like anything else.
